8 lies of a mother

I received this story thru an e-mail sent by a friend.
It's really touching and I hope you guys will read it.

This story begins when I was a child: I was born poor. Often we hadn't enough to eat. Whenever we had some food, Mother often gave me her portion of rice. While she was transferring her rice into my bowl, she would say "Eat this rice, son! I'm not hungry."

This was Mother's First Lie.

As I grew, Mother gave up her spare time to fish in a river near our house; she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a little bit more nutritious food for my growth. Once she had caught just two fish, she would make fish soup. While I was eating the soup, mother would sit beside me and eat the what was still left on the bone of the fish I had eaten, My heart was touched when I saw it. Once I gave the other fish to her on my chopstick but she immediately refused it and said, "Eat this fish, son! I don't really like fish."

This was Mother's Second Lie.

Then, in order to fund my education, Mother went to a Match Factory to bring home some used matchboxes, which she filled with fresh matchsticks. This helped her get some money to cover our needs. One wintry night I awoke to find Mother filling the matchboxes by candlelight. So I said, "Mother, go to sleep; it's late: you can continue working tomorrow morning." Mother smiled and said "Go to sleep, son! I'm not tired."

This was Mother's Third Lie.

When I had to sit my Final Examination, Mother accompanied me. After dawn, Mother waited for me for hours in the heat of the sun. When the bell rang, I ran to meet her.. Mother embraced me and poured me a glass of tea that she had prepared in a thermos. The tea was not as strong as my Mother's love, Seeing Mother covered with perspiration, I at once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too. Mother said "Drink, son! I'm not thirsty!".

This was Mother's Fourth Lie.

After Father's death, Mother had to play the role of a single parent. She held on to her former job; she had to fund our needs alone. Our family's life was more complicated. We suffered from starvation. Seeing our family's condition worsening, my kind Uncle who lived near my house came to help us solve our problems big and small. Our other neighbors saw that we were poverty stricken so they often advised my mother to marry again. But Mother refused to remarry saying "I don't need love."

This was Mother's Fifth Lie.

After I had finished my studies and gotten a job, it was time for my old Mother to retire but she carried on going to the market every morning just to sell a few vegetables. I kept sending her money but she was steadfast and even sent the money back to me. She said, "I have enough money."

That was Mother's Sixth Lie.

I continued my part-time studies for my Master's Degree. Funded by the American Corporation for which I worked, I succeeded in my studies. With a big jump in my salary, I decided to bring Mother to enjoy life in America but Mother didn't want to bother her son; she said to me "I'm not used to high living."

That was Mother's Seventh Lie.

In her dotage, Mother was attacked by cancer and had to be hospitalized. Now living far across the ocean, I went home to visit Mother who was bedridden after an operation. Mother tried to smile but I was heartbroken because she was so thin and feeble but Mother said, "Don't cry, son! I'm not in pain."

That was Mother's Eighth Lie.

Telling me this, her eighth lie, she died. YES, MOTHER WAS AN ANGEL!
M - O - T - H - E - R

"M" is for the Million things she gave me,
"O" means Only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the Tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her Heart of gold,
"E" is for her Eyes with love-light shining in them,
"R" means Right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER" a word that means the world to me.

For those of you who are lucky to be still blessed with your Mom's presence on Earth, this story is beautiful. For those who aren't so blessed, this is even more beautiful.

Monash Sunway vs Nottingham Semenyih

In mid of November (Yeah, I know, it's a late update), I went to KL together with my family to check out University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) and Monash University Sunway Campus.

Ever Wonder Why I typed out the complete names?
It's because my posts will show up whenever people google for these two universities.
Kinda desperate,don't you think? lol

My 1st destination was University of Nottingham in Semenyih. Using the GPS (Global Position System), locating the university was a breeze. We arrived at a small town (Semenyih, I suppose) and I assumed maybe the university is located somewhere neaby. But to my dismay, it is located a good 30 minutes down South. The university is gorgeous but I couldn't imagine myself studying in Semenyih for 3 whole years.
Just imagine, the nearest mall is an hour's drive away. No movies for a month!! I would go crazy living under such condition.

But hey, I'm still gonna post some pictures I took there,

the administration building

the space in between faculties

the lake in front of the administration building

The colour blue represents the engineering faculty.

And our next destination was Monash University Sunway Campus. I couldn't take much photos there because I was tired of all that travelling. Monash University is located in Sunway. So that means Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon are just a stone throw away. (Well, it depending on how FAR you can throw anyway, lol)

Monash is awesome and I love the environment. The library is huge!!! Plus, I managed to sneak a peak into the engineering lab and what can I say?? It's everything I have imagined what a university should look like.

After that, we went to Sunway Pyramid to have a quick snack before heading back to Penang. Hopefully, I can get good results in A-levels which will be announced on monday (2 more days to go!!!All the best guys) and who knows?? Maybe in a month's time, I will be sitting in a lecture hall paying attention and starting my journey towards being an engineer!!! fingers crossed!!!

And last but not least, pictures of Sunway Pyramid during Christmas,

Going back to my Alma Mater

A year has passed since I graduated from Jit Sin High School (JSHS) and in that period, I was busy with A-level to the extend that I couldn't even find time to visit my old school, the school that I grew from a naive teenager to a young responsible adult. Ok, NOW I feel BAD about this, lol...

It's 2010 and a new school year has began. It's a new year, a new decade. I don't really know what to expect when I go back. Will there be new faces and renovations, will it still be the old Jit Sin that I vividly remembered?

On 13/1, I went back to my alma mater with a couple of friends. I met my old physics teacher on the way in. Ahh, Mr Siao Tian Pao. I kinda missed his physics class.

The food in the canteen is still cheap. RM1.20 for a bowl of noodles. I bet you can't get that price anywhere else. HAHA

The office is still filled with familiar faces with a couple of exceptions (new teachers). My friends and I managed to steal some precious time from some teachers to catch up with them and see what they have been up to since we graduated. Pn Chew Saw Bee hasn't changed a bit with the same hairstyle and the same clothing. There's also no drastic changes in Pn Tee Lian Liang. Yeah, how I wish I could still sit in my own classroom and pay attention to them or mengantuk during Biology, lol...

But the teacher that I missed a lot was Pn Teoh Choo Suan. Sadly, I couldn't spot her anywhere in the office. Maybe she was busy, bad timing I guess...

Sometimes I wondered where I would end up today if I don't have these teachers to guide me. Believe it or not, many of these teachers DID make an impact in my life. Most of them are hard working and if I bombard them with questions. They would still answer me with a smile, hehe. Sometimes even question which don't make any sense, lol. I picked up a lot of qualities from them.

Why do I sound depressed and emo again? Anyway, here are some pictures that I managed to take during my trip back to JSHS,

Our school building. It's still the same but a new coat of paint would be better, lol..

Our renovated canteen with tiles instead of cement.

The canteen packed with students during recess.
Why is the prefect looking at me?lol

Our new mission in 3 different languages, lol...

Our culture,lol..

My old club, Persatuan Bahasa Malaysia.

and last but not least, our koperasi.
aka dog don't shit*

Well, it was great to be back in Jit Sin High School.
My next destination would most likely be Monash University Sunway Campus.

My 1st ever parking ticket a.k.a. saman

Presenting Lady Gaga's Telephone featuring Beyonce
*the music application can be found at the end of the page

On Tuesday (12/1), my friends and I went to pacific to hang out and what do you think happened, I got a parking ticket ( saman in malay ). Rats, lol..

But, I shall post about my day before I found the damn ticket on my windshield.

In the morning, I went jogging with my ex-classmate Andy Lim Chuen Wah (better known as wah zai) and I saw a shooting star (refer to my previous post) ,wow..isn't that lucky?

After taking a nap, I went to fetch my friends (Tok Eu Jian and Eu Wey) to pacific. We parked outside the supermarket as pacific is charging RM1 per hour if we were to park in the basement, damn that's expensive...

So, we headed straight to the bowling alley on the top floor and played a few games. It's really cheap!!

They charge RM3 per game (student price) and RM2 for the shoes

Game 1 of aaron vs wey

85 vs 85.. walao

Game 2 of aaron vs wey

106 vs 74, I won.. lol

After that, we went to play a game of snooker and shopped for a while, I bought a pair of shorts at RM56.

It's hard to find shorts less than RM50 these days. Everything now is damn expensive.

As we were walking towards my car, my sixth sense tells me that I have been fined and I truly hoped that I'm just being paranoid. But as I approaches my car, there's a yellow paper stucked on my windscreen wiper and WA LAH, my 1st ever parking ticket.

So from now onwards, I'm gonna be a goodie-two-shoe and place this parking coupon on my dashboard, lol..

P/S: I guess I should have made a wish when I saw that shooting star, lol..

What the blank is this?

I went jogging in the park opposite my taman this morning and at approximately 7.38 am, I saw this in the sky!!!

Here's a closer look,

Is this a shooting star? an aeroplane(unlikely) or could it be Lady Gaga, lol..

Check out this video and you will know what I'm talking about...

Venetian Princess is awesome!!

And guys, any clue what the thing in the pictures above might be???
